EVENT RECAP

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Cooperstown Kids Jam was created to allow a local 12U baseball team to raise funds for their participation in a week-long tournament in Cooperstown, New York this summer while also teaching them the value of raising funds for families in their community affected by kancer. Little did they know that one of those families was one of their own.
In early April, the team's 3rd baseman Jacob Benedicto was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of kancer. Shortly after hearing this devastating news, the team launched the " Jamming For Jacob" campaign. Over 1,000 stickers were distributed to area baseball, lacrosse and soccer teams. On May 15th, the Kids Jam/Jamming For Jacob event was held, with 48 teams participating. The Championship was taken home by 14 year old Tyler Glynn and his father Dennis. All told, over $40,000 was raised!
